There has been so much rain this week! It creates a heaviness in the air that I feel in my body, slowing me down and pressing me inward. Sometimes it's hard to be quiet, silent, and face what is stirring just underneath the surface of consciousness, restless and unresolved. I learned while meditating in the bathtub on Tuesday that if I spotlight the particular restlessness I feel, bring it clearly into my awareness, and consciously invite it in, the energy shifts very quickly. Being "friends" with the feeling creates the littlest bit of detachment from it, allowing me to remember I am an infinite being of love who has space for and the ability to handle anything that could possibly arise. Thus I return to equilibrium, and did so on my rainy Tuesday morning. Actually Rumi says it best in his poem, THE GUEST HOUSE:
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.
Be grateful for whatever comes.
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond. -- Rumi
With rain also comes the most wonderful clean air! Every time I step outside I find myself inhaling like crazy - it's so delicious I feel like I almost can't get enough into my lungs! As I stood on the back porch taking a few of these invigorating breaths, I noticed the azaleas full of vibrant life. I felt the internal zing that I always feel when I get inspired to create, and made a piano song to describe the moment in the video above. I hope you enjoy it and know exactly what it says - even though there are no words. :)
May you find freshest air and encompassing love on cloudy or rainy days, and your path be full of crystal clean, delicious, life-giving AIR!
Love and melodious flowering plants,
